4Hear this, you who trample upon the needy and destroy the poor of the land: 5“When will the new moon be over,” you ask, “that we may sell our grain, And the sabbath, that we may open the grain-bins? We will diminish the ephah, add to the shekel, and fix our scales for cheating! 6We will buy the destitute for silver, and the poor for a pair of sandals; even the worthless grain we will sell!” 9On that day—oracle of the Lord GOD— I will make the sun set at midday and in broad daylight cover the land with darkness. 10I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into dirges. I will cover the loins of all with sackcloth and make every head bald. I will make it like the time of mourning for an only child, and its outcome like a day of bitter weeping. 11See, days are coming—oracle of the Lord GOD— when I will send a famine upon the land: Not a hunger for bread, or a thirst for water, but for hearing the word of the LORD. 12They shall stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east In search of the word of the LORD, but they shall not find it.

2Blessed those who keep his testimonies, who seek him with all their heart. 10With all my heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commandments. 20At all times my soul is stirred with longing for your judgments. 30The way of loyalty I have chosen; I have kept your judgments. 40See how I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life. 131I sigh with open mouth, yearning for your commandments.

9As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the customs post. He said to him, “Follow me.” And he got up and followed him. 10While he was at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat with Jesus and his disciples. 11The Pharisees saw this and said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. 13Go and learn the meaning of the words, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”
