1The Lord created human beings from the earth, and makes them return to earth again. 2A limited number of days he gave them, but granted them authority over everything on earth. 3He endowed them with strength like his own, and made them in his image. 4He put fear of them in all flesh, and gave them dominion over beasts and birds.

13As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him. 14For he knows how we are formed, remembers that we are dust. 15As for man, his days are like the grass; he blossoms like a flower in the field. 16A wind sweeps over it and it is gone; its place knows it no more. 17But the LORD’s mercy is from age to age, toward those who fear him. His salvation is for the children’s children 18of those who keep his covenant, and remember to carry out his precepts.

25The Praise of the Father. At that time Jesus said in reply, “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.

13Blessing of the Children. And people were bringing children to him that he might touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14When Jesus saw this he became indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not prevent them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it.” 16Then he embraced them and blessed them, placing his hands on them.
