10There shall be no foreign god among you; you shall not bow down to an alien god. 11‘I am the LORD your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open wide your mouth that I may fill it.’ 12But my people did not listen to my words; Israel would not submit to me. 13So I thrust them away to the hardness of their heart; ‘Let them walk in their own machinations.’ 14O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways, 15In a moment I would humble their foes, and turn back my hand against their oppressors.

14One of them, a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple cloth, from the city of Thyatira, a worshiper of God, listened, and the Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what Paul was saying.

31The Healing of a Deaf Man. Again he left the district of Tyre and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, into the district of the Decapolis. 32And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hand on him. 33He took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his finger into the man’s ears and, spitting, touched his tongue; 34then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, “Ephphatha!” (that is, “Be opened!”) 35And [immediately] the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. 36He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. 37They were exceedingly astonished and they said, “He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and [the] mute speak.”
