5Then the king of Assyria occupied the whole land and attacked Samaria, which he besieged for three years. 6X. The End of Israel - Israelites Deported. In Hoshea’s ninth year, the king of Assyria took Samaria, deported the Israelites to Assyria, and settled them in Halah, and at the Habor, a river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. 7This came about because the Israelites sinned against the LORD, their God, who had brought them up from the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. They venerated other gods, 8they followed the rites of the nations whom the LORD had dispossessed before the Israelites and those that the kings of Israel had practiced. 13The LORD warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and seer: Give up your evil ways and keep my commandments and statutes, in accordance with the entire law which I enjoined on your ancestors and which I sent you by my servants the prophets. 14But they did not listen. They grew as stiff-necked as their ancestors, who had not believed in the LORD, their God. 15They rejected his statutes, the covenant he had made with their ancestors, and the warnings he had given them. They followed emptiness and became empty; they followed the surrounding nations whom the LORD had commanded them not to imitate. 18The LORD became enraged, and removed them from his presence. Only the tribe of Judah was left.

3I - O God, you rejected us, broke our defenses; you were angry but now revive us. 4You rocked the earth, split it open; repair the cracks for it totters. 5You made your people go through hardship, made us stagger from the wine you gave us. 12Was it not you who rejected us, God? Do you no longer march with our armies? 13Give us aid against the foe; worthless is human help.

12Indeed, the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.

1“Stop judging, that you may not be judged. 2For as you judge, so will you be judged, and the measure with which you measure will be measured out to you. 3Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own eye? 4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ while the wooden beam is in your eye? 5You hypocrite, remove the wooden beam from your eye first; then you will see clearly to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.
