1Psalm 16 God the Supreme Good - A miktam of David. I - Keep me safe, O God; in you I take refuge. 2I say to the LORD, you are my Lord, you are my only good. 5LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you have made my destiny secure. 7II - I bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my heart exhorts me. 8I keep the LORD always before me; with him at my right hand, I shall never be shaken. 9Therefore my heart is glad, my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure, 10For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor let your devout one see the pit.

36Direct my heart toward your testimonies and away from gain. 29Lead me from the way of deceit; favor me with your law.

33Teaching About Oaths. “Again you have heard that it was said to your ancestors, ‘Do not take a false oath, but make good to the Lord all that you vow.’ 34But I say to you, do not swear at all; not by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35nor by the earth, for it is his footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36Do not swear by your head, for you cannot make a single hair white or black. 37Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one.
