Responsorial Psalm
Psalms 5: 2-3ab, 4b-6, 7
2I - Give ear to my words, O LORD; understand my sighing.
3Attend to the sound of my cry, my king and my God! For to you I will pray, LORD;
4in the morning you will hear my voice; in the morning I will plead before you and wait.
5II - You are not a god who delights in evil; no wicked person finds refuge with you;
6the arrogant cannot stand before your eyes. You hate all who do evil;
7you destroy those who speak falsely. A bloody and fraudulent man the LORD abhors.
Alleluia
Psalms 119: 105
105Nun - Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path.
Gospel
Matthew 5: 38-42
38Teaching About Retaliation. “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’
39But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on [your] right cheek, turn the other one to him as well.
40If anyone wants to go to law with you over your tunic, hand him your cloak as well.
41Should anyone press you into service for one mile, go with him for two miles.
42Give to the one who asks of you, and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow. Love of Enemies.
