13Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we shall go into such and such a town, spend a year there doing business, and make a profit”— 14you have no idea what your life will be like tomorrow. You are a puff of smoke that appears briefly and then disappears. 15Instead you should say, “If the Lord wills it, we shall live to do this or that.” 16But now you are boasting in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, it is a sin.

2Hear this, all you peoples! Give ear, all who inhabit the world, 3You of lowly birth or high estate, rich and poor together. 6I - Why should I fear in evil days, with the iniquity of my assailants surrounding me, 7Of those who trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches? 8No man can ransom even a brother, or pay to God his own ransom. 9The redemption of his soul is costly; and he will pass away forever. 10Will he live on forever, then, and never see the Pit of Corruption? 11Indeed, he will see that the wise die, and the fool will perish together with the senseless, and they leave their wealth to others.

6Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

38John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we tried to prevent him because he does not follow us.” 39Jesus replied, “Do not prevent him. There is no one who performs a mighty deed in my name who can at the same time speak ill of me. 40For whoever is not against us is for us.
